CHESTER GOODWIN, JIMMY BRIGGS & STEVE MAHONEY MOUNTED PHOTO – ITEM VPCGOOD1
Vintage mounted photo of Goodwin and Briggs, top lightweights from the late 1800’s to early 1900’s with manager Steve Mahoney. Below is a famous group photo (which is not included) of a gathering of boxers seated together at a tribute to John L. Sullivan around 1904. In the photo Sullivan is surrounded by guys like Charley Mitchell, Jack McAuliffe, Fitzsimmons, Sharkey etc. Boxing manager Steve Mahoney is shown standing in the photo with his boxers Chester Goodwin and Jimmy Briggs, who are seated in the front row with boxing gloves on. It seems they had an exhibition together at the tribute gathering. Photo is signed on top by Mahoney “kindly yours, Steve”. Photo size is 3 3/4″ x 5 1/2″ and is in very good condition. Mount size is 5 1/4″ x 7″ and is also in very good condition, other than small chip on top left corner and some wear on bottom border.
